Seeing this week marked the birthday of X-Files creator, Chris Carter, it seems appropriate to celebrate with several events honoring issues peripherally relevant to the classic series:
1. Renowned science nerd, Jonah Lehrer will speak at the Walters Art Museum in Mt. Vernon (600 N. Charles Street) on Wednesday, October 16th at 6:00 p.m. Lehrer writes popular science books and regularly appears as a pointlessly handsome young guest on educational radio programs. Unlike most people who like science, he is funny and well spoken. $10 for non-members. $5 for students.
2. So-called “Man Caves” are headlining this year’s Maryland Home and Garden Show at Timonium Fairgrounds (2200 York Road). Basement bars, pool tables, red leather smoking rooms––the latest triumph of the women’s movement is getting men back in the home where we belong. Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. $9 to ogle. Parking is free.
3. This is my favorite. The deservedly popular Woodberry Kitchen in Clipper Mill (2010 Clipper Park Road, No. 126) is throwing a Sausage Festival. This Sunday, October 18, on the patio from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the culinary artists at the kitchen will serve grilled local sausages (as well as their own creations) for $5 a pop and beers for the same price. They will also provide some meatless options.
How will you geek out this week?

Is the talk Jonah Lehrer talk tonight (Friday) the 16th or next Wednesday?
Also-I believe the Woodberry Kitchen event has been moved to next weekend due to the weather.
Good catch. He’s actually giving one on Wednesday the 21st and another one on November 16th.
