Plenty of Indulgences

Just ask your local clergyman: plenary indulgences are back! Sadly, all we can offer is indulgence of the partial, easily affordable variety. They may not save your soul, but they will make this world a little finer in the meantime. The basics:

  1. The Holistic Massage Training Institute near Johns Hopkins (1 E. University Parkway #110) is the place to go if you want to get trained in the newest New Age tactile therapy. If, on the other hand, you just want a cheap massage, stop by this summer for one of their Student Massage Clinic days and get an hour-long session for only $35. The first one is July 9 starting at 9:15; call ahead to make sure they can squeeze you in (410 243-4688).
  2. Me, I keep them cut to the quick, but I hear manicures are things people sometimes like. Chic Nails in Hampden (1040 W. 41st Street) is by all accounts the spot for getting them on cheap and good. It’s not a palace, okay, but that’s not why you’re going. You’re going for a manicure and a pedicure for $30 flat. So there.
  3. Dominion Ice Cream in Charles Village (3120 St. Paul Street) isn’t particularly cheap as far ice cream goes––you’ll pay a couple bucks for a couple scoops––but get a cup of their homemade ginger snap or sweet potato flavor to eat on their patio, and you’ll never go to that chain place down the street again.

What have you indulged in lately?
