Our favorite thing about winter these days? It’s almost over. Once spring does get here, we’re going to be jumping off our couches, running through the streets cheering madly and looking for some fun. We’ll be looking for our kickball league. Oh yes, that’s right, kickball, that sweet playground game of youth has become… organized.
Team registration for the Kickball League of Baltimore is going on right now. Two of the dates have already passed, but you’ve got one last chance. You’ll need to head down to Don’t Know Tavern in Federal Hill (1453 Light Street) from 7 – 10pm on February 12th (that’s this Thursday) to sign up. Cost is $45 dollars per person for a team, $55 for individuals. Games start March 11th and 12th. Space for teams is limited, so the earlier you arrive, the better.
The Baltimore Sports and Social Club also has kickball leagues in the spring. Sadly, registration is already closed and if you didn’t get in, well, we’re sorry. The good news is if your athletic endeavors go beyond just kickball, the BSSC has a wide variety of sports year-round. Wiffleball, dodgeball, football, volleyball and broomball are all offered at different times of the year. The focus is on fun and socializing — getting out there, meeting new people and playing silly games with them. There are three levels of leagues: Social (most competitive), X-Social, and Super X-Social (least competitive). Fees are $655 for a team of 12; each additional player is an extra $60.
Given our love of kicking balls we’re a little disappointed not to see soccer on the list of available sports. What sports would you like to see?
