Red Tree, located on the Avenue in Hampden (921 W. 36th street), sells a wide variety of unique and hard to find goods. Needless to say, it’s one of our favorite places to visit when we don’t know exactly what it is we’re looking for, only that it has to be perfect.
Urban Discoveries Living: Who are you and what’s your position?
Red Tree: I’m Gary and I’m the manager here at RedTree.
UDL: How would you describe your store?
RT: We describe it as a lifestyle store. We sell baby gifts, holiday decorations and accessories, paper goods, a lot of gifty things. We also import hardwood furniture from Indonesia, which is really nice. We have our own upholstery line, and a bedding line. Supporting local artists is important to us, so we carry a lot of art and jewelry made locally.
UDL: What’s your favorite item that you’re currently selling?
RT: Antique wine bottle light fixtures. I really love them, that’s an honest answer.
UDL: What do you like about your neighborhood?
RT: We really love the community. We’ve built a lot of relationships in our short time here; we’ve got a lot of customers who we consider friends and all of the businesses are really close knit. We really support each other in Hampden.
UDL: What do you wish was different about your neighborhood?
RT: Let’s see… that’s a hard question. We’re happy with the neighborhood, it’s a festive place to be. No complaints.
UDL: Any upcoming events or promotions at your store?
RT: Right now, all of our holiday items are 75% off and all in-stock hardwood chairs and stools are 30% off.
UDL: Anything else the people of Baltimore should know?
RT: We love to support our community and we really love all the support we get in return.
